Hemingway, a Man of His Time

Ernest Hemingway is probably the most published U.S author in Cuba. The Cubans have enjoyed several of his titles, such as The Old Man and the Sea, a short story that led him to the Nobel Prize in Literature, For Whom The Bell Tolls, considered as an ode to the Spanish Civil War.

No podía pensar igual que él. Mi educación, mi cultura y mis vivencias eran diferentes. Yo preguntaba de distancia en kilómetros, él respondía en millas porque, aunque el mundo utiliza el Sistema Internacional de Medidas, en el país de Abraham Lincoln no cambian. “El mundo debe adaptarse a los Estados Unidos”, dijo mi interlocutor.
