Cucalambeana Folkloric Festival pays homage in Las Tunas to the 182nd birthday of Juan Cristobal Napoles Fajardo, nickname El Cucalambe, and some children of Las Tunas are also able to show their abilities in oral ten-line stanza.

Las Tunas.- The launching of the title El libro de los desterrados (The Book of the Exiled People), Cucalambe Ibero-American Prize in written Ten-line Stanza, by Diusmel Machado and Carlos Esquivel, was one of the activities that closed the forty-fourth Cucalambeana Folkloric Party in this city.
The festivity, that paid tribute to the 182 birthday of Juan Cristobal Napoles Fajardo, nickname El Cucalambe, counted on four days of theoretical spaces, exhibitions, shows and celebrations with the most authentic of the Cuban rural traditions.
The Provincial Center of Visual Arts hosted the National Landscape Exhibition, Crafts, and Illustrated Ten-line Stanza, while the collective sample Estados de conciencia (States of Conscience) reflected a call of attention toward the protection of the environment through sculptures and paintings. Another privileged gallery was the workshop of Sculpture Rita Longa with the Expo entitled Paisaje cubano (Cuban Landscape), by Kamil Vullaudi.
The children of Las Tunas also found an opportunity to show the fruits of the workshops of ten-line stanza with them and participated in the Justo Vega contest, for this kind of oral improvised verses. Reiber Nodal (from Ciego de Avila), who won first prize last year, returned to be the winner. Meanwhile, Orismay Hernandez (from Matanzas) and Sindy Torres (from Pinar del Rio) reached the second and third place respectively.
Liliana Rodriguez, from the municipality of Puerto Padre in Las Tunas, was included in the final round of competition for the first time in the history of the contest, and received a special recognition from the jury. In addition, the Casa de la Decima, of Mayabeque province, granted the distinction Caiman Sonoro to its similar in Las Tunas, the main organizer of the "Justo Vega".
Vestiges of this great festival
This year, the Cucalambeana Folkloric Party tried to reach other city spaces to get more public participation, such as Teatro Tunas (movie heater), the gazebo at the Vicente Garcia Park, Parque 26 de Julio (Park) and the Square Vicente Garcia. The latter held the Ibero-American Colloquium on Ten-line Stanza and Improvised Verse, in which the developers emphasized the need of alternatives to record films on the culture identity of the territory.

Una jornada para honrar al Cucalambé y la tradición decimista cubana

Las Tunas- La presentación de El libro de los desterrados, Premio Iberoamericano Cucalambé de Décima escrita 2010, de los escritores Diusmel Machado y Carlos Esquivel, fue una de las actividades que cerraron la cuadragésimo cuarta Jornada Cucalambeana en esta ciudad, capital de la provincia de igual nombre.
La cita, que rindió homenaje al 182 aniversario del natalicio de Juan Cristóbal Nápoles Fajardo, El Cucalambé, dedicó cuatro días a espacios teóricos, exposiciones, espectáculos y festejos con lo más auténtico de las tradiciones campesinas cubanas.
El Centro Provincial de Artes plásticas acogió el Salón Nacional de Paisaje, Artesanía y Décima Ilustrada, mientras la muestra colectiva Estados de conciencia reflejó un llamado de atención hacia la protección del medio ambiente a través de esculturas y pinturas. Otra de las galerías privilegiadas fue el Taller de Escultura Rita Longa, con la expo personal Paisaje cubano, de Kamil Vullaudi.
Los jóvenes artistas también encontraron aquí la oportunidad de mostrar los frutos de los talleres de repentismo infantil en el Justo Vega, uno de los principales certámenes de repentismo en Cuba. Reiber Nodal (Ciego de Ávila), quien recibió el primer premio el año pasado, volvió a resultar ganador. Mientras, Orismay Hernández (Matanzas) y Sindy Torres (Pinar del Río) alcanzaron el segundo y tercer lugar, respectivamente.
La tunera Liliana Rodríguez, del municipio de Puerto Padre, llegó a la competencia final por primera vez en la historia del concurso, logrando un reconocimiento especial del jurado. Además, la Casa de la Décima de Mayabeque otorgó la distinción Caimán Sonoro a la Casa Iberoamericana de la Décima Juan Cristóbal Nápoles Fajardo, de Las Tunas, principal organizadora del "Justo Vega", que celebró sus 16 años de creado.
Vestigios de esta gran controversia
Este año, la jornada intentó llegar a otros espacios citadinos para lograr más participación de público: el Teatro Tunas, la glorieta del parque Vicente García, el Parque 26 de Julio y la Plaza de la Revolución Vicente García González. En esta último, sesionó el Coloquio Iberoamericano de la Décima y el Verso Improvisado, en el cual los creadores enfatizaron en la necesidad de buscar alternativas para dejar constancia fílmica y sonora de la cultura identitaria del territorio.
